BOROUGH OF FRANKLIN PARK
PUBLIC NOTICE
TAKE NOTICE that the Borough Council of the Borough of Franklin Park, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, at a regular meeting to be held Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. prevailing local time, at the Franklin Park Municipal Building, 2344 West Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, intends to consider, and if appropriate enact, the following proposed ordinance as summarized by the Solicitor:
Ordinance No. 693-2025, to place a Home Rule Charter question and Government Study Commission election on the ballot for the 2025 General Election. Borough Council believes that voters of the Borough of Franklin Park should vote to determine whether a government study commission should be formed to study the existing form of government of the Borough of Franklin Park and consider the advisability of adopting a home rule charter and, if deemed advisable, to draft and recommend a home rule charter. An election shall be held at the 2025 General Election on the following question, authorized in Section 2911(a) of the Home Rule Charter and Optional Plans Law: “Shall a government study commission of seven (7) members be elected to study the existing form of government of the Borough of Franklin Park, to consider the advisability of the adoption of a home rule charter; and, if advisable, to draft and to recommend a home rule charter?” The proposed ordinance requires the Borough Secretary to file a certified copy of the ordinance, together with a copy of the question to be submitted to the electors, to the Allegheny County Board of Elections; and establishes severability and effective date provisions.
A copy of the full text of the proposed Ordinance may be examined by any citizen on the Borough website; at the Franklin Park Municipal Building; at the newspaper publishing this legal notice; and at the office of the Allegheny County Council Chief Clerk and the Allegheny County Law Library, during regular business hours.
